Called Billy, he was a famous pin-up artist. He was working as a bank teller in St. Joseph, MO until about 1933 when he sold his first three pin-ups to a calendar company. His wife was his first model. Moved to New York and set up a penthouse studio in the Beaux Arts Building at 18 E. Tenth Street. In 1951 Billy and Glenna returned to St. Joseph, MO, and after a few years retired in Arizona.

Julia's grandparents were James Auchenbach and Catherine Julian(s) who were married 29 Mar 1832 Zion Reformed Church, Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD. Her father, Monroe Aughinbaugh, was christened 3 Aug 1834 at Strayers Salem Reformed Congregation, Dover Twp., York Co., PA. (This may explain why some of the following census records say Monroe was born in PA and some say MD. It is believed that the family was from the large Aughenbaugh family in York Co., PA.) Monroe served in the Civil War from MO, and lived in Clinton Co., MO in 1860. (He was not there in 1850.) George and Fredericka Paulson were the children of Leonard and Catherine Lyons Paulson.

As a bookbinder, Charley made a beautifully bound leather book in 1896 in which he kept family records and used as a journal. His son, Elvin, gave it to his son, A. J. DeVorss, who very generously gave it to Pat Frunzi, the contributor to this World Connect file. Not only does the book have names and dates, but contains some of Charley's thoughts on the family. For instance, he writes upon the death of his mother, "I have lost my best and dearest friend."
Charley and Nettie separated between 1910 and 1913. Charley was living in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO in 1924 when his father died. His brother James was there also.
He suffered a heart attack coming out of a restaurant in San Francisco on Thanksgiving Day. (His brother, James, was in San Francisco in 1907.)

Nettie's parents were married September 17, 1857 in Franklin Co., OH.
Father's will dated Mary 9, 1910 and probated February 27, 1913 left daughter Nettie Jane DeVorss all of the east 10 ft. of lot #43 and all of lot #44 in block 4 in S. H. Somer's Grand Heights, an addition to the city of St. Joseph, MO. Netta's brother, Thomas Guyan Arhur was left all of lot #45 next door.
According to the city directories these properties would have been at 3137 and 3139 Felix Street.
Nettie's husband, Charles W. DeVorss, left the family between 1910 and 1913. Her oldest son had to quit school and go to work to help support the family.
Although the St. Joseph, MO city directories show Nettie and her children at 3137 Felix through 1924, she was listed in the 1920 census with her brother Thomas G. Arthur, who owned a dry cleaning business in Savannah City, Nodaway Twp., Andrew Co., MO. "DeVorss, Nettie J., sister, age 43, divorced, born IA, father born OH, mother born OH, assistant, dry cleaning". Nettie and Thomas' widowed mother was living with them.

Mr. and Mrs. DeVorss were married at Pawnee, Oklahoma in 1898. Three children were born to them at Pawnee, Gertrude, Lloyd and Lena Lee. In 1910 they moved to Newcastle, Wyoming where Kenneth was born. They came to Buffalo in 1916 where they have resided since that time.
